After eating in Spain, we really love Spanish food, so Movida was hard to pass up. Since we were not visiting Melbourne or Sydney any time soon we were so pleased to again be able to indulge in one of my favourites, the Pedron peppers (you can’t buy them in Perth!).
In true Spanish style, their Catalan tomato bread tasted the same as we remembered when we ate them in Spain….the bread was crusty and soft at the same time, melting in your mouth with the generous coating of mashed fresh tomatoes.
The cocktails are a must try (we slurped on pineapple infused cocktail and of course a bloody mary gazpacho), on the first occasion, the four of us really had a feast, rolling out of there needing a nap and a massage. So across the road we go for an hour of foot reflexology to help us digest. We enjoyed soft shell crab with alioli in a squid ink bun (Bocadillo); moon scallop, Iberico & potato foam (Vieira); spiced chicken escabeche in between crisp crouton (Miguel); organic chicken with escalivada salad (Pollo) from the Josper charcoal oven; Chorizo Iberico; black mussels in the most divine broth; tomato & onion salad and of course a plate of Pedron peppers.
We loved it so much, we returned for round two and enjoyed some more Pedron peppers, chorizo with Catalan tomato bread, the chicken escabeche and this time also mussel with tomato salmorejo on seaweed cracker and Moorish spiced Mulwarra grass fed lamb skewers that came with an eggplant and chilli salsa.
We definitely satisfied out Spanish craving this time. Movida, can’t wait to see what you serve up next time!
