Blue Manna Bistro, Dunsborough – June 2019

July 18, 2019

This place sprung up a few years ago in the heart of Dunsborough where it quickly earned the reputation as a place to try. We had missed trying this place until now, visiting friends who live in Dunsborough. The reason is, it is predominately seafood and my husband is not really a fan of going to seafood restaurants. Whilst I would go to good seafood restaurants at a drop of a hat due to the fact that there really isn’t many, if really any good seafood restaurants around any more…..(please, I would welcome any recommendations). Shy John Brewery and Yum Cha November 2018

November 24, 2018

Most Asians love dim sum or yum cha. Being Asian, I crave dim sum all the time. For me, it’s about the being able to enjoy many morsels of different dishes at one meal. To be honest, the dishes are pretty much the same, no matter if you go to the finest establishment or to the cheap and cheerful. The price range can be extensive and they can range from frozen re-heated to expertly handmade. Shy John sits somewhere closer to the expertly handmade. Continue Reading…

So, the much-anticipated QT Hotel in Perth opens. Wildflower September 2018

September 7, 2018

This is not your everyday place to dine…..however, if I had my way, I’d dine there once a week! We had dined previously on a couple of other occasions for lunch and dinner and have thoroughly enjoyed our experiences. As they change their menus regularly, and I believe their chefs since then, it is nice to enjoy their different menus and culinary talents of their different chefs. Continue Reading…

No Menu February and March 2018

August 18, 2018

I’ve known owner Maurizio Di Ciano for a zillion years. A zillion years ago, he had a catering business, then he opened Maurizio’s at the Italian Club and now most recently, his new venture No Menu.

I’ve enjoyed Maurizio’s food throughout his career and at all times, his passion for food and cooking for his diners has never been less than explosive. He will always greet you warmly and spend a regular amount of time with you ensuring your meal is up to scratch. When you dine with Maurizio, he always makes you feel incredibly welcome and feed you till you explode. And, you will notice that you are not the only one he treats like this. Continue Reading…

Potato Bake

August 10, 2018

There is a reason potato bakes of any kind are always welcomed at any table. The oozy satisfaction of soft potato, dripping with melted cheese, flavoured with crispy bacon (optional) and onions/spring onions is a delight to any palate and accompaniment to any meal.

The best thing about this side dish is that you can make it a day in advance so it is just a matter of heating it up in the oven just before everything else is served. Don’t misunderstand me, it is creamy and heavily delicious so I would suggest serving it with other lighter sides but, trust me, many will be licking the side of the dish to get some more of its irresistible deliciousness. MUST WINE BAR JANUARY 2018 AND NUMEROUS OTHER OCCASIONS

January 13, 2018

Must Wine Bar have been around for a while, since 2001 to be exact. That’s a whopping 17 years and still going strong, serving a little slice of Paris to Perth’s winers and diners. Over the years, we have ventured there for celebratory occasions, work functions, a casual drink or two, get together, quick lunch & dinner and everything else in between. This place is great place for after work drinks, a place to start or the place to linger through the food and drinks menu. Continue Reading…

C Restaurant – October 2017

January 4, 2018

Many, many moons ago, this place began as one of Perth’s premier restaurants with a view, known then as Hilite 33, the revolving restaurant on the 33rd floor of a city building on St George’s Terrace. Over the years, whatever concept it has morphed into, one thing that has never changed, is the ever slightly revolving dining floor presiding over a magnificent 360 degree vista of Perth and its surrounding landscape.
